December is sure starting to turn into one depressing month :-(
Itchy and Scratchy came to us from our partner rescue Washington Ferret Rescue in Kirkland, WA. They sat at their shelter for a year with no interest so we offered to take them in and give them the luxury of being in a caring foster home. These guys were in the foster program, but because of their age no one was really interested in them. They were very sweet and loved each other dearly. A few months ago we noticed that both girls started to decline and decided we would keep them in rescue for the rest of their lives and spoil them rotten each and every day. A few weeks ago they moved in with Teresa and Markus who provide hospice care to a number of ferrets. On Friday night they had to make an emergency trip to Dr. Walton at midnight as Itchy was starting to crash. She had been battling a tumor for some time, but she had nothing left to fight with. She was put down that night. Today, we had to let her sister, Scratchy go too as her tumor was starting to take over as well. RIP Itchy & Scratchy
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Adrian Walton at the Dewdney Animal Hospital in Maple Ridge for taking such good care of our rescue ferrets! Dr. Walton is going beyond the call of duty and jumped out of bed on Friday night when Itchy started to crash to meet us at the clinic. We are extremely grateful to have such a dedicated vet on our side! |
